Family and Hospitality Since 1932

Our Story

The history of Hotel Posta is a family story that began in 1932 but has roots far back in time, as early as 1730 when the Theresian cadastre mentioned an inn with horse shelter, right where our structure stands today.

It all started with the foresight and keen business sense of Sperindio Vanini, Armando’s grandfather, who took over the inn on September 29, 1932, offering a place of rest and refreshment to travellers along the ancient Via Regina. His concept of hospitality, based on genuineness and familial welcome, was a great success, leading him to purchase the property in just 5 years.

The period of the Second World War took Sperindio away from management, which was left to his brother Alessandro until his return in 1952, when his wife Armanda, daughter Marisa, and fiancé Italo Taroni also became involved in the business.

From that moment, management passed from generation to generation, to Italo and Marisa first, until their children Laura, Emilia, and Armando, together with Armando’s wife Rossella, have been managing the hotel since 2003, with the help of Paolo, a talented young chef and grandson.

That’s why Hotel Posta is not just a hotel with a restaurant and café on Lake Como but a place made of family and people: those who were born here and who still today put all their passion into offering an unforgettable and emotion-filled vacation.

The 90th year of management has made us proud, and now we eagerly await the centenary to celebrate together a new milestone of the Vanini-Taroni family!
